Whether you’re a current JMF manufacturer or considering becoming one, we’ve compiled answers to the most common questions about becoming a manufacturer, compliance, production, and technical support to help you get the most out of JMF.
Below if a brief explainer video that covers what JMF does and who we are.
To become a JMF manufacturer, you must be a skilled timber joiner capable of manufacturing to NZS 4211. You’ll need to demonstrate compliance through a factory inspection, complete our licensee agreement, and attend onboarding training. You must also be a fully paid member of Master Joiners.
Yes, there is a one-time joining fee and an annual license fee, which includes access to all JMF technical resources, ongoing support, and branding use. We’re happy to provide a breakdown — just get in touch.
You’ll receive access to our full suite of technical resources, guidance from our technical advisors, and marketing support. We also offer ongoing training, regular updates, and compliance tools to help you stay ahead.
This depends on how quickly you can complete the onboarding steps — most manufacturers are up and running within a few weeks.
JMF joinery is independently tested to NZS 4211, which means you’re manufacturing to a verified and compliant system. This removes guesswork and gives your customers peace of mind. It also gives you peace of mind knowing that the compliance side of things is taken care of, and you don’t need to worry about demonstrating to council how your joinery complies with the code.
We’ve tested a full suite of timber windows and doors — including awning, casement, sliders, bifolds, and hinged doors — and continue to expand the range.
At this stage, we do not have a pivot door in our suite.
No. You can choose to manufacture only the products that suit your business. However, they must be made to the JMF specification to carry the branding.
Any modification must still meet the tested system requirements. While there are some customisable aspects to the system, there are also critical elements that contribute to the overall testing success and cannot be modified, even if you believe the modification may be an “improvement”.
If in doubt, reach out to our technical team before making changes — we’re here to help.
All licensed manufacturers are required to tag their joinery with JMF compliance tags. This shows the product was built to the tested specification and aligns with NZS 4211.
You can order tags directly through the JMF website. Once your order is confirmed, tags are shipped to your nominated address.
This is a short training session to ensure at least one person in your business is confident inspecting JMF joinery for compliance. Once complete, they are recorded as your certified quality assessor.
We don’t require reports, but we recommend you use our inspection checklists internally to ensure consistency. Keeping good records is also helpful if a product ever needs to be verified.
You are required to record the tags you have used against the job they were used for in our online system. This allows JMF to have transparency of where tags have been used, meaning if there is any issues that arise with the joinery down the track we can accurately determine which joiner produced that item.
Our technical advisors are available to help with specification questions, project reviews, and design compliance. Contact us any time — no question is too small.
