glazing for jmf joinery

Glazing is a critical part of the window and door system, impacting thermal performance, compliance, and longevity. JMF has developed detailed glazing specifications and partnered with approved suppliers to ensure every unit performs to the standards required under NZS 4211 and the New Zealand Building Code.

Below you’ll find key information and downloads to help ensure glazing is completed correctly for all JMF joinery.

KEY GLAZING REQUIREMENTS

JMF joinery must be glazed to the specifications outlines in the JMF Glazing Details document. These include:

  • Glazing tape and sealant details: Correct placement of tape, internal and external silicone sealant, and back-bedding requirements.
  • Edge clearance: Minimum clearance between the glass edge and the timber to avoid stress and ensure proper movement.
  • Packers: Use of setting and location blocks to prevent glass contact with timber and support weight distribution.
  • Drainage and ventilation: Designs include weep holes or air flow allowances to reduce condensation risk and ensure compliance.

Incorrect glazing can compromise compliance and void testing under NZS 4211. Please ensure your glazing teams follow these details carefully.
